Assistant Controller
Baha'i National Center, Evanston, IL
Job Description –The Assistant Controller reports to and works closely with the Controller for the National Spiritual Assembly. The Assistant Controller is an integral member of the financial management team.
Essential Skills and Experience: • Attainment of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a master’s degree in business administration. • 3-5 years work experience as a senior accountant, senior auditor or equivalent. • 3-5 years supervisory experience. • Sound knowledge of GAAP in both for profit and non-profit environments. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and familiarity with an Accounting software environment. • Ability to work independently including the ability to spot problems and develop solutions. • Strong written and verbal communication skill. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff. • Strong Baha'i administrative experience. • Knowledge of QuickBooks software a plus.
Accounts Payable Supervisor
Baha'i National Center, Evanston, IL
Responsibilities: Supervise the payment of all expenses of the National Spiritual Assembly in a computerized environment, while keeping management abreast of the cash flow needs. Liaise with department managers and authorized staff for the processing of invoices, including the verification of accounting codes, etc.
Skills and Experience: • Bookkeeping and/or Accounts Payable training and experience in a computerized environment or other transferable work experience • Excellent written and oral communications skills and experience in the art of consultation • Genuine comfort working with numbers, percentages and fractions • Previous supervisory or management experience • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook • Affinity for work in a detail oriented environment • Ability to assimilate information and take prompt action in consultation with management • Strong customer service skills • Sound knowledge of the fundamental verities of the Faith and its application in the work place.
Budget and Reporting Analyst
Baha'i National Center, Evanston, IL
Responsibilities: Assist with the preparation of the annual budget of the National Spiritual Assembly, the primary planning tool for the control of annual expenditure. Prepare monthly system generated budget versus actual financial reports for agency and department managers to monitor their annual budgets. Analyze the information in these reports through variance analysis and provide management with key insights into the reasons for differences.
Skills and Experience: • Attainment of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or related training and experience. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills -- Ability to communicate clearly with all staff. • Experience in the use of Crystal and FRx data base reporting, a plus. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and familiarity with Accounting software programs. • Sound knowledge of the fundamental verities of the Faith and its application in the work place. • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. • Knowledge of Quick Books Accounting software, a plus. • 3-5 years work experience in the Accounting field.
Campaigns Coordinator
Baha'i National Center, Evanston, IL
Responsibilities: The Campaigns Coordinator develops, implements, and manages capital campaigns of the National Spiritual Assembly. Key job responsibilities include management of correspondence, production of print and online campaign materials, supervision of the organization’s financial management system as it relates to campaigns, coordinating campaign activities, such as meetings and special events, conducting presentations on behalf of the National Assembly and assisting with the formulation and execution of general Fund development strategies.
Skills and Experience: Candidates should be well grounded in the fundamental verities of the Baha'i Faith, possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and management skills, and have the ability to work well independently and in teams. Management, public speaking, development, and financial management systems experience preferred.
Assistant Coordinator
Baha'i National Center, Evanston, IL
Responsibilities: Corresponds with individuals, communities, Baha'i institutions, and other offices and agencies of the National Spiritual Assembly by mail, e-mail, and telephone. Assists with development and production of promotional materials and programs. Conducts presentations on behalf of the National Spiritual Assembly. Assists with coordinating campaign activities, such as meetings and special events, on behalf of the National Spiritual Assembly.
Skills and Experience: •Well-grounded in the fundamental verities of the Baha'i Faith. • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. • Excellent interpersonal skills. •Able to work well independently and in teams. • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. • Creativity, flexibility, reliability, and trustworthiness. • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with experience writing and editing in a professional environment required. • Familiarity with the Five Year Plan and related documents important. • Graphic design and web management skills a plus.
Fund Development Internship
Baha'i National Center, Evanston, IL
The Office of the Treasurer is looking for interns to serve in Fund Development. Duties include getting coffee, washing cars …just kidding! The two lucky interns that get to serve the National Spiritual Assembly in educating the American Baha'i community about the “fundamental spiritual obligation” to support the Baha'i Funds will also get to do things like help build the Chilean Temple; help repair the House of Worship and build the new Visitor’s Center; design educational materials and publications for children, junior youth, youth, young adults, and adults; do research and program evaluation; and a bunch of other cool stuff. All with a team of other young people just like you! What, you might ask, do I need to do such amazing, wonderful, and fun things? You really need to like to write. A lot. You also need to be somewhat familiar with a computer, like to talk with people, be able to meet deadlines, but, above all, more than anything else, you really have to want to learn!
